Shane Larkin drives past Austin Rivers in the 2010 State Final

Men's Basketball falls in state final
3/8/2010

Shane Larkin scored 15 points and pulled down five rebounds as Men’s Basketball stayed with Winter Park for the better part of three quarters in Saturday’s State Championship.  Unfortunately, the Panthers couldn’t match the runs by the Wildcats in the fourth and fell, 76-57.  Winter Park jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first but DP (27-6) roared back to trail by just two, 26-24, at the half.  The second half saw DP commit some costly turnovers and Winter Park took advantage of them, as one would expect from the 15th-ranked team in the nation.  Damani Cade, the lone representative left from the 2007 state runner-up team, scored 13 points and added three steals.  Keenan Green had another solid game with ten points and four rebounds.  Pat Ryan ended his career with a solid outing of seven points, six rebounds and three assists.  DP finishes a spectacular season as District, Metro Conference and Regional champions and state runners-up for the second time in four years.  Congratulations to coach Anthony Long and his staff and players on representing Dr. Phillips High School with the utmost of class all season long.  The DP Nation is extremely proud!
