Women's Tennis (2-0) won easily against Wekiva yesterday (6-1), but it was the Line One Doubles match that will long be remembered. Before we get to that, singles wins for Kelsey Haddock (8-3), Maria Contreras (8-1), Lindsey Woody (8-0) and Brittany Hubbard (8-2) secured the victory. Over on Line Four, Laura Betourne was struggling with a knee injury but fought valiantly until forced to retire hurt with the score sat at 7-7. Line Two Doubles was brought home, 8-0, by Woody and Merissa Priceman and then the entire team was treated to a thriller over on Line One. Contreras and Sabrina Gutierrez found themselves down, 3-1, and then 4-2, before showing that Panther spirit by turning things around to bring home the victory, 8-5. "In a way this started our season," said Coach Conway. "With weather delays and other things we didn't really get going until today and I'm so proud of the way our players supported their teammates during that match." The ladies are away at Boone next Tuesday.
