Pat Ryan and Shane Larkin scored 21 points each as Men's Basketball defeated Lakeland Kathleen in the Mosaic Shootout at Bartow High School. Larkin also added seven assists, four rebounds and two steals while Ryan pulled down seven rebounds, doled out five assists and picked up two steals. Damani Cade was a force as well, with 19 points and six rebounds. Their efforts were definitely needed as the Panthers (20-5) played without the services of Kerby Lubin and Keenan Green and center Chris Thomas fouled out with with six minutes left in the game. DP surged to a 15-4 lead in the first quarter but Kathleen (19-6) pulled to within two at the half, 30-28.
With the victory, Dr. Phillips has now won at least 20 games for a state-record 17 consecutive years. They will play Ocoee in the quarterfinals of the District Tournament Tuesday at 7:30 at Wekiva HS.
